Jo Jo was one of the best mongrel mutts that we ever had. He wandered up on the steps of Maple Springs Baptist Church. Stayed there 3 days before my mom coaxed him down the road to the house.
I have found that strays or rescued pets make the best companions! On a related subject, I understand that one Chilton county community wants to limit the number of pets a person can have, but doesn't want to enforce a leash law. Soooo, someone like me, who keeps pets sheltered, and keeps them from bothering other people's property, has my rights limited to having less than 3 dogs or cats within a fenced yard while others can have one or two dogs or cats free to roam and defecate on or destroy others property. My yard is clean, my house is cleaner, and I'm not talking about having a house over-run with animals. Just having more than two dogs or cats if one is capable of providing care for them without intruding on others. Comments?
As long as the pets have a healthy safe environment and the neighbors' rights are not being infringed upon; I don't think it is anyone's business how many pets we have.
At particular points in my life I've had up to 10 animals as pets, everyone was taken care of and there were no health issues. I would hate for some local authority to tell me I couldn't have more than 3 pets. Its not their business.

I have 4 cats and 1 dog. All but two of them were either strays or about to be take to the shelter.

I don't personally take them in because I live in an apartment complex, but I am usually the "rescuer" and my mom is the one the animals live with....

I have found that strays usually make the best pets. (better than paying a couple hundred dollars for one)

I hope they have let that idea go, Proud2Be.
